Triplet loupes are among the highest quality optical loupes used in the professional sector. Their secret lies in the special lens system: instead of a single lens, a triplet consists of three precisely matched individual lenses – two collecting outer lenses and a diffusing inner lens. This combination enables exceptionally high image quality.
Our social media cooperation partner Dimitri Zlatev shows what exactly makes KRÜSS Triplet loupes so high-quality in the latest post on Instagram.

Why triplet loupes are so high quality:
The three-part lens design almost completely corrects typical optical errors that occur with simple loupes. The result is an extremely sharp, high-contrast image that is not blurred even at the edges. The color representation of the gemstones is virtually free of color errors.

Triplet loupes with aplanatic correction show no distortion
Aplanatic lens systems ensure that rays of light that enter the lens in parallel meet again at a single point after the lens. This avoids distortions and loss of sharpness that are unavoidable with simple lenses.
Triplet loupes with achromatic correction do not produce color errors
Light is broken down into its colors as it passes through a lens. Without correction, this results in color fringing and blurring (chromatic aberration). Triplet loupes use achromatic elements that effectively compensate for these chromatic aberrations. The image remains true to color and clear.
KRÜSS Triplet loupe - Premium quality
However, a high-quality optical loupes system is not built into every triplet loupe. For a triplet loupe to develop its full potential, it needs:
- precise lens grinding
- High-quality glass materials
- Precise production and joining / bonding of the lenses
Only if these factors are correct does a loupe really deserve to be called a “triplet“.
“Conclusion”
KRÜSS triplet loupes offer an optical quality that is far superior to simple loupes. They deliver a razor-sharp, color-neutral and distortion-free image – ideal for anyone who requires the highest precision, for example in jewelry inspection, gemstone viewing or quality control.
